 Das ist Hugo, ein 3 Jahre alter Assistenzhund in Ausbildung. Er hat bereits eine sehr gute Grundausbildung absolviert und lernt nun speziell auf meine Bedürfnisse abgestimmte Assistenzleistungen.

 Ich leide an einer komplexen posttraumatischen Belastungsstörung (KPTBS) mit Dissoziationen, Flashbacks, Krampfanfällen und Lähmungsanfällen. Diese Anfälle können jederzeit auftreten und bestimmen momentan meinen gesamten Alltag. Aus Angst davor traue ich mich viele Dinge nicht mehr allein – selbst alltägliche Situationen können zur großen Herausforderung werden.

 Hugo soll lernen, meine Anfälle frühzeitig zu erkennen und mich rechtzeitig zu warnen. Dadurch kann ich mich in Sicherheit bringen, bevor etwas passiert – zum Beispiel, bevor ich mitten auf der Straße oder an anderen gefährlichen Orten zusammenbreche. Außerdem wird er darauf trainiert, mich aus Dissoziationen herauszuholen, Hilfe zu holen und mich während und nach einem Anfall zu unterstützen. Durch seine Hilfe können im besten Fall sogar Rettungswagen-, Notarzt- und Krankenhausaufenthalte verhindert werden.

 Ein Assistenzhund ersetzt keine Therapie – aber er kann mir Sicherheit, Stabilität und ein großes Stück Lebensqualität zurückgeben. Mit Hugo hätte ich endlich die Chance, wieder selbstständiger zu werden, mich mehr zu trauen und Schritt für Schritt in ein freieres Leben zurückzufinden.

 Hugo wird in Graz (Österreich) ausgebildet. Seine Ausbildung kostet 6.000 €. Hinzu kommen die Kosten für die Assistenzhundeprüfung in Österreich sowie die regelmäßigen Fahrten und Aufenthalte, damit wir eine enge Bindung aufbauen und gemeinsam trainieren können. Bis Hugo endgültig bei mir einziehen kann, entstehen dadurch zusätzliche Kosten von mindestens 4.000 €.

 Hugo has already completed an excellent foundation training and is now learning specialized assistance tasks tailored specifically to my needs.

 I live with Complex Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (CPTSD), which causes daily dissociation, flashbacks, seizures, and episodes of temporary paralysis. These episodes can happen without warning and have taken away much of my independence. Because I never know when the next episode will occur, I’m often too afraid to leave the house or do everyday activities on my own.

 Hugo is being trained to recognize the early signs of my episodes and alert me before they happen. This gives me enough time to get to a safe place, reducing the risk of collapsing in dangerous situations, such as while crossing a street. He is also learning to help me come out of dissociative episodes, provide support during and after an episode, and seek help if necessary.

 An assistance dog cannot replace therapy, but Hugo will give me something I have been missing for a long time: safety, confidence, and independence. With him by my side, I hope to regain the freedom to participate in everyday life and build a future that isn’t controlled by fear.

 Hugo is being trained in Graz, Austria. His specialized training costs €6,000. In addition, I must cover the costs of the official assistance dog examination in Austria, as well as the many trips and overnight stays required so we can build a strong bond and train together before he comes home with me. These additional expenses amount to at least €4,000.
