Hueytown Harvest 2021 Fundraiser

Want to join me in making a difference?
We're raising money to benefit Hueytown Harvest Farmers Market Inc, and any donation will help make an impact. Hueytown Harvest Farmers Market Inc is a public charity. We rely heavily on community support to operate.
We are 1 of only 49 State of Alabama Certified Farmers Markets meaning that the produce, honey, beef, pork and eggs sold at our market are grown locally within the state of Alabama and sold by the farmer/grower/beekeeper, their family or employees. Though our guidelines are strict we are also able to provide locally prepared foods and unique art by local artists.

Our Market Manager travels to various locations seeking new farmers, growers and beekeepers; cottage industry artisans, bakers, and chefs. She scours the internet for potential new vendors who meet our guidelines. Our Board members and volunteers constantly strive to improve our knowledge and share it with our community.
We have a steady stream of monthly expenses that include, but are not limited to, marketing; website subscription and support; market supplies (ant killer; table cloths; paper products; food supplies for special event days; pet-friendly supplies, etc.); tents; tables; office supplies; telephone and computer expenses; etc. We currently need to replace 25 tents at a cost of approximately $250.00 each for a total amount of $6,250.00. ( We have used less expensive tents in the past, but are constantly having to replace them due to breakage; weather/wind damage, etc.)

We offer educational information related to gardening; preparing meals; healthy lifestyle choices and the Blue Zone Project.

Beginning 2022 we will kick off our Blue Zone Project in an effort to have a long-lasting impact on the health and well-being of our community.

In 2004, Dan Buettner teamed with National Geographic, the National Institute on Aging, and the world's best longevity researchers to identify pockets around the world where people lived measurably better, longer. In these five areas, dubbed "blue zones," researchers found that people reach age 100 at a rate that is ten times greater than in the United States and with lower rates of chronic disease.

After locating the world's blue zones areas, Buettner and National Geographic took teams of scientists to each location to pinpoint lifestyle characteristics that might explain the unusual longevity. They found that though the blue zones communities are located in vastly different parts of the world, their residents share nine specific traits that lead to longer, healthier, happier lives. We call these the Power 9®.
Move Naturally
Right Outlook
Eat Wisely
  80% Rule
  Plant Slant
  Wine @ 5
  Right Tribe
  Loved Ones First
Our Blue Zone Project Goals at Hueytown Harvest Farmers Market, Inc. are to work with local grocery stores; daycares; schools to introduce budget-friendly, healthy food choices; to work with community leaders to develop and encourage the development of walking paths; sidewalks; gathering spaces; community gardens; etc that are free to the community; to encourage our friends, family and community members to join the commitment to a healthy lifestyle both physically and mentally.

This project will span over several years.  2022 will be the initial year and will involve a lot of time invested in education and marketing.  It will involve traveling and meeting throughout our city and surrounding communities. a three-year estimate for the cost of this project is $225,000.00.
None of this is possible without your support.
