Hi, I'm Charmaine, the founder of HUES Book Box, a quarterly subscription box that celebrates BIPOC books, with every box tailored to each subscriber's preferences.
HUES recently ordered 1,000 improved boxes that are sturdier + higher quality, providing better protection to your books in transit.
But our printer is in China & these boxes have already been printed & paid for.
Due to the tariffs, the shipping fee is now ~$1,400.
Shipping was going to be complimentary due to the large order size but the factory – which has been confirmed to pay its workers fairly and provide great working conditions – is also unable to eat those costs.
That's why, even though this is a difficult ask, I am raising $1,400 to cover the unanticipated shipping expenses. Every dollar goes directly to covering the logistics costs for this shipment.
How You Can Help:
- If 280 people donate $5 we would save this shipment!
- If you can't give $5, please consider sharing the fundraiser and spreading the word.
How We'll Move Going Forward:
Future boxes will be printed in the US. Doing so will raise our costs by 150%. In order to accommodate this hike in expenses and minimize price increases for our customers :
- Our two book-only subscriptions (Bright and Vibrant) will be switched to padded mailers.
- Our HUEge (3 books + goodies) and HUEmongous (book club box with 3-10 copies of the same book) subscriptions will use mailer boxes and prices will increase $5-$10.
Thank HUE for supporting us. We are determined to push through this hurdle and come back stronger, and we can't wait to continue curating for you!
