HUCM Medical Mission Trip to Peru

Hello! We are medical students at Howard University College of Medicine (HUCM). We come from different walks of life that intersect at one desire; to help the medically underserved population of this world. But we need your help….

As a group, 16 of us will be traveling to Lima, Peru to provide medical aid to low income areas of the country through a program known as International Volunteer HQ (IVHQ). We will be providing basic checkups not readily accessible in the area, as well as treatments for members of the community. This Medical Campaign involves visiting and working with up to five communities.

Several of us have begun preparing for our trip by attending Medical Spanish classes provided to us by the Latino Medical Student Association of HUCM. In line with HUCMs mission to serve the underserved and improve the health of Americans and the global community, we seek to begin impacting this world with the skills and knowledge we have acquired thus far.


What will the funds cover?

The cost of our trip is approximately $1,400 per student. This includes the following:

Travel: $600 - $700
IVHQ application fee: $300
Extra Fees from IVHQ (provide housing, and meals): $400

With 16 of us attending, our goal is to raise $22,400.


**As a cohort, we are completely student run and must acquire our funds on our own. **
