Huckleberries Nurture Farm CIC

http://www.huckleberries.co.uk/  Welcome to Huckleberries… a place to be me.

The damp summer hasn't been kind to our nurture tent and when we came to set up for this term found that a large amount of mould had grown on the inside of the tent making it not fit for use.  We've sought quotes for cleaning and reproofing, but given it was already second hand and a little tatty, its not economically viable to spend up to £250 having it cleaned.  So this campaign is to buy a new 6m bell tent from which to teach our huckleberries children yoga, mindfulness, art and journaling, or provide a place where they can hang-out with a bunny or a friend.
Thank you in advance
Bev

What we do
Huckleberries Nurture Farm CIC works with primary aged children to enhance their emotional well-being through facilitated therapeutic contact with animals and well-being practices.

Our primary aim is to help children develop skills to adjust the way they think about, react to and cope with day-to-day challenges, and be comfortable with who they are, so as to ease the transition into their teenage years. Our programme combines yoga, mindfulness, meditation, journaling and art, interwoven with caring for and working with the animals.

At Huckleberries we have pygmy goats, lambs, chickens, ducks, rabbits, cats, a border collie and other occasionally adopted animals. Most importantly we offer 'a place to be me' where children feel safe to be themselves and build the resilience they need to fully embrace their teen and adult lives.

After our launch in January 2019 we've had successful spring and summer terms, working with children from two local primary schools and further developing and extending our programme with our four well-being practitioners and school emotional literacy support teams.

We are continuing to submit funding applications to enable us to offer more free places to schools in Autumn and Winter and are due to hear about 3 in November.   Schools in a position to finance their own places may contact us to check availability.

Please get in touch if you would like to learn more about us, want to support our work or are a local school and would like to be part of our network at
