Howard University Alumni vs. Howard U. Board of Trustees - Lawsuit

The struggle for dignity and democracy takes many forms, but Alumni NEVER sue their school unless it is an extreme circumstance.

But the situation is so serious at Howard University in Washington, DC, that – on behalf of thousands of newly disenfranchised fellow Alumni – a suit has been filed against the Board of Trustees to restore the voting rights of Alumni to select members of the Board.

Howard U. is a nearly billion-dollar enterprise with a giant law firm on retainer, so this is a “David vs. Goliath” struggle.

The ten plaintiffs are not famous or wealthy. Just regular folks determined to right a wrong.

We seek everyone’s assistance to help offset the legal expenses in pursuit of protecting the integrity of the University’s By-Laws and restoring open communications.

Here you can:
a) Read the complete lawsuit alleging:
The Board of Trustees violated its Bylaws - twice
Board members failed to meet their fiduciary responsibilities
The 25-year secrecy of Board minutes may violate DC law
b) View short videos with Plaintiffs explaining why they joined the suit
c) Learn how the Board abolished all seven (7) Student, Faculty and Alumni Trustee positions with zero advance notice
d) Learn that the Board has refused to provide essential documents requested by Alumni that the University claims to have relied upon to make its decision.
