Hi There and thank you for taking the time to read my brothers story.

My Older brother Nathan Christian Jordan is in the 20th year of a 165 year prison sentence for property crimes he committed as a TEENAGER in which NO ONE was harmed!  Crazy right?  Your might be thinking, "he must've killed somebody to get that much time." Wrong!  He didn't hurt anyone! Quite the contrary, He was the one hurting

Nathan and I had spent most of the first decade of my life in and out of foster care together. We  would go from foster care back to the "care" of our extremely alcoholic mother.  We were permanently separated in 1993 when my dad came in the picture and took me away.  For 3 years my brother and I were unable to speak or see each other. While I was with my father, Nathans was doing his best to care for our mother who could not only care for her children, but not even for herself, So from 1993 - 1996, Nathan did not attend school and instead cared for our mother. He  kept her from accidentally killing herself on a daily basis. But in turn had truancy warrants which landed him in juvenile detention centers.  Instead of going back and forth from foster care and our mothers "care" he started transitioning from our mothers care to that of the care of the state, in Juvi. During one of his stays in a juvenile halfway house, Nathan walked out of the front door to go home to our mother.  He was apprehended and charged with attempted escape.  Just for going home to his mom.  Finally in 1996, while Nathan was in a detention center for that crime, our mother had just lost the lifelong battle with her addiction to alcohol and died shortly after Thanksgiving in 1996.   Without any family to turn to and no one to care for him, my brother was released into our dead mothers care (which is insane) and  took to the streets of Denver.  Bereft and unconsolable, Nathan had little regard for his own life and any consequences of his future actions.  The state had totally failed him. In two days my brother stole a car and robbed a convenience store.  He was caught after the robbery and taken into custody.  At my brothers sentencing, which he was totally alone for with no family, the court attached the Attempted escape charge from the juvenile record and coupled with the robbery and car theft, he was sentenced under the three strikes law.  Each strike runs consecutively with the other and attaches the maximum sentence for the crime, meaning he got 30 years for a car jacking and when he was finished with that sentence then the 48 for the robbery  would start and so on.   This is why he has so much time.  It was a period in the 90s when they were throwing the book at young kids committing property crime in Colorado.  And that's exactly what Nathan was charged with, Property crime.  Since his conviction, the three strikes law that he was sentenced under was overturned but not retroactive and consecutive sentencing as of last month is being looked at as unconstitutional and those sentences under that law are being looked at.  Even with this new and amazing change within our justice system, It is still very hard to right the wrongs of my brothers extreme over sentencing.

In the 20 years my brother has been in prison, he has educated HIMSELF, become fluent in 3 languages,  and received multiple certifications making him equipped with the tools needed to thrive in our community.  He has earned the respect of other inmates and staff and has helped so many incarcerated young men stay out of trouble and return home to their families.  He has devoted himself to the path of self actualization and clarity to better help prepare himself for the freedom which we all believe he deserves. He chose the path of reform and its king to lead to his freedom!

I alone have been fighting for my brothers freedom for 20 years.   I answer his calls everyday and return every one of his letters. I visit him at every opportunity and  helped him stay on the path of healing and inevitable freedom.  To not get sucked into the darkness to believe in hope, in miracles and in CHANGE.  I can no longer do it on my own.  I need help, we need help.

I am now humbly asking for your help to pay for a lawyer who has taken interested in Nathans case.   This is a post conviction case, it is a harder case to retry, but this is our lawyers  area of expertise and he thinks we have good shot!  We are grateful beyond words to have his interest and care in the future of my brother.  Every dollar will go to this lawyer and anything left over will go into an account for my brother to get onto his feet when he DOES return home.  We have to act now, The laws are changing in our favored we need to act while we can!

PLEASE help us raise this money for my brother's freedom. We have so much time to make up for, so many birthdays and Christmases, and life to be lived!  There is no amount of thanks I could express to be reunited with my brother.  20 years is long enough.  He is an amazing man who has a wonderful family and support system to come home to and with your help and donations, this can become our reality.
