"Pay it 4ward" Student Scholarships

Please join with me to "Pay it Forward."

I am a designer and an educator, teaching design at California State University Long Beach.  Education
is a wonderful gift.  One can be educated through reading, lectures and films, but the best education is experienced.

Education experienced will never be forgotten.  Above and beyond the classroom experience, travel provides some of the best education.  Students can experience tradshows, manufacturer's tour, culture, history, art, architecture, design and life.

My name is Joe Ricchio (RicchioDesign.com) andI have been teaching Furniture Design at CSULB for 10 years.  I teach because I want to "Pay it Forward"  and share my 30 years of knowledge and experience.   In 2003  to further share my experience, I established the Ricchio Design Retreat to take students to various design and educational venues each year.

From 2004 to 2010 I took students to Milan, Italy for Salone del Mobile, the largest furniture show
in the world.  Students viewed new furniture ideas and had the opportunity to meet and speak with other designers and manufacturers.  Along with the fair, time was spent touring Milan and being exposed to it's architecture, art, design, history and culture.

In 2013 and 2014 I took students to Chicago for Neocon (Neocon.com), the largest commercial interiors show in North America.  Students experienced 3 days
of walking the fair seeing new products, attending educational trade lectures and touring showrooms. Personal showroom tours were also provided by many of my clients.  Time was also found to take an Architectural Boat Tour of Chicago and experience other highlights of the windy city.

From my 10 years of experience it is clear to me that these travels have greatly enhance the students' education and life experience.  They will be stronger, more confident and well rounded professionals.

Our trips have always been funded by donations from my clients, design professionals and friends.  I am looking for others of like mind to help support my efforts.  Any and all contributions will be very much appreciated by myself and the students.

Ricchio Design Retreat, Inc. is recognized by the IRS
as a 501(c)(3) public charity, thereby making your donation tax deductible.  If needed, a letter confirming your donation will be provided.

Thank you very much for your time and consideration.
Please "Pay it Forward."
