One year ago I was diagnosed with throat cancer at the base of my tongue. (Squamous cell carcinoma)  By the time it presented it had already spread to a nearby lymph node in my neck. Since then the mass has more than doubled in size and two more lymph nodes have become involved. The recommended allopathic treatment is radiotherapy, possibly with permanent and life altering side effects such as loss of teeth, tissue scaring, loss of saliva gland function, swallowing capability and taste. For the better part of a year I have been incorporating intensive life style changes and natural medicine protocols. More recently I have embarked upon a naturopathic protocol prescribed by a naturopathic oncologist, which targets this specific type of cancer. It is expensive and if we get a break and it proves to be effective I will need to be on it for the rest of my life. As a fall back plan I have already initiated the process for acquiring radiotherapy treatments with my oncologist's integrative protocol for mitigating the severe side effects of radiotherapy and for hastening recovery. The required dental surgery for the latter procedure entails an added expense that is presently beyond my economic capability. Several teeth need to be removed and a partial plate manufactured for my jaw. The  funding requirement for this proceedure is immediate. The cost of supplements for both my targeted therapy naturopathic treatment plan and/or the integrative (radiotherapy combined with naturopathic medicine) plan is ongoing. The added financial burden has become overwhelmingly stressful. Any and all financial assistance would help to alleviate some of the accumulative stress and hasten my recovery. Unfortunately, this type of cancer is aggressive and it appears to be heading down the lymph node chain toward my chest.
