Ruth and Baby Cancer War Chest

This is Ruth’s story.........
Ruth Williams lives in Anchorage, Alaska. She’s dedicated her life to bettering the lives of our 4 legged and feathery friends at Diamond Animal Hospital. I’ve known Ruth for 7 years and while my career requires me to be in Alaska on a regular basis, it didn’t prepare me for what would happen during my last meeting with Ruth. Our visit lasted the normal hour or so as we laughed, shared baby stories, and finally finished with 10 minutes of obligatory work chat. 24 hours later the results of Ruth’s ultrasound and uterine biopsy were in. Yes, this would be the testing she delayed for 5-6 months because money was a little tight.
In Oct. of 2014, 12 months after giving birth to her miracle baby “Brayden”, Ruth was diagnosed with endometrial cancer. Within 2 days of her diagnosis, Ruth had a complete hysterectomy and was sent home anxiously awaiting the stage of her cancer. One week later, on her 42nd birthday she spiked a fever and complained of severe headaches. She was admitted to the hospital again and told her endometrial cancer had spread to her brain and would require 2 surgeries to remove the tumors. In true Ruth fashion, one week after surgery, she declared war on round 3(radiation) with an even greater resolve. If all goes well, Ruth will begin an intensive regimen of chemotherapy around Christmas. Ruth’s relentless determination to stay strong comes as no surprise to those of us lucky enough to know her. My goal is to raise enough money to help alleviate the financial burden that Ruth and her family will face. This will allow them to focus on what matters most; Ruth’s fight against endometrial cancer.
