Ana's Kidney Transplant Expenses

My name is Karen and I thought I'd have nothing to lose by trying this. Today I decided to take a chance and stop being afraid of opening up to the world. Things are getting really tough and it was time we set our pride aside and asked for help instead of letting an once in a lifetime opportunity pass her by. I have faith that there are kind hearted people willing to help this cause. I'm trying to raise money for my mother Ana Valero. She is 60 years old and has been suffering from kidney failure since 2008. She's been receiving dialysis three times a week and follows a regulated diet. She is on a transplant waiting list. She has recently started receing phone calls about possible matches! We are really positive about this new journey she will embark but the problem is that the hospital is in Philidelphia and we reside in NYC. That's about 4 hours on public transportation (we do not own or have access to a vehicle). The way this all works is that the patient must be amitted to check for compatibility and nothing is 100% until patients are in the OR. We recently went and things didn't match so the trip was unsuccessful. We spent $250. It has become evident that it's very costly for us to have to travel each time to embrace these opportunities but I'm determined to find a way to make this happen for my mother. She deserves it! She is a strong and independent woman who has strived to provide for my brother and I since day one as a single mother. She is disabled due to multiple surgeries related to dialysis and I was recently laid off my full time job in August. I am currently a senior college student who's trying to save any penny I get from a small part time internship in order to cover these travel expenses to Albert Einstein Hospital in Philedelpia for pre transplant and post transplant appointments.
