Help Darling to learn English in US

Many of you know that for the past year, I have been tutoring a local Costa Rican high school student in English.  

Darling is sixteen years old, the President of her class, and has been #1 in her class since fourth grade.  Her dream is to become a doctor. She attends Collegio Tecnico de 27 de Abril in Guanacaste Costa Rica.  She is a smart, dedicated, and hard working young lady. What 16 year old girl would want to spend two hours every Saturday morning practicing English with  an old gringo lady, after going to school all week!  One who has big dreams and is willing to work hard to achieve them.

Her English teacher encouraged her to apply to a student exchange program called "Friends of Oregon". She traveled alone by bus to San Jose and spent the whole day doing interviews and participating in group activities, doing problem solving, team building, etc with other kids applying for the program. She found out last week that she was chosen for the program as one of only 24 students, and only 2 from our area of Guanacaste, the poorest province in Costa Rica.

She will spend Dec 9 - Feb 9 with a host family in Oregon. The cost for this experience is $2300,  which is a great deal of money for a family here in rural Costa Rica.

So I am reaching out to see if it might be on your heart to help. I can assure you that even the smallest donation will go a long way, and you will be contributing to a life changing experience for this young girl. There is no better way to learn a language then to be immersed in it. Any money that is donated, I will personally give to Darling to pay for her trip.

I have gotten to know Darling and her family well over this past year. They are hardworking, humble, and gracious people. The picture is a photo of Darling on the farm where the family lives and works.   She has to pay $575 in four installments. The total must be paid by 11/24.
