Mike Osborne: Heart of Gold

Donation protected
This is my brother, Mike, with his devoted family. He is a husband, a dad, a son, a brother. He will drop everything in a second to stand by his family in their time of need.  When our father was sick, he called him daily to check in and chat. Every. Single. Day. He has a heart of gold.

After our father died at the end of May, 2017, after living in BC for 10 years, Mike and Ange returned to live in Ontario. They settled in St. Thomas, Ontario.  The kids headed off to post-secondary education; Meghan, who is taking Biomedical Science, and Mitchell, who is taking Electrical Engineering at Fanshawe.  They were so happy to be in a smaller community, getting to know the area around them.

Living out west, without family around, they stayed as close as ever and as supportive of each other as they could be. Even with the kids getting older, their support of each other and enjoyment of their family is unwavering.  I admire their closeness that they nurtured during that time.  A closeness to last a lifetime.

They started the summer, just like you or I, with dreams of warm days, enjoying time with their beautiful family. Their dreams turned into a living nightmare one afternoon In late July, 2018.

Mike was taken the emergency room, with what they thought, was dehydration. After being discharged, he returned soon after with another awful symptom. An endless series of tests revealed esophageal cancer. Mike prepared for the fight of his life. He was going to beat this. Unfortunately, his fight was already lost as the cancer had, silently, taken over his body. 3 short weeks later, he has days to live.

With two kids in post secondary education, unfortunate circumstances that prevented him from getting life insurance, all of the costs of daily life (with now, a single income), and an unexpected funeral to plan for, my sister-in-law could use some help.  My brother would drop everything to help a person in need, now this is the only way I know how to help him -to ask you all to share his story and help his family in need.,

**Update** Mike passed away in his sleep, with Angela beside him, in the early morning hours of Friday August 31, 2018.  Less than one month from his initial diagnosis, he is gone.  He will be dearly missed by everyone.  Rest in Peace, brother.

I thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for taking a moment to read and share his story and for donating what you can. Any amount will help. With love, Wendy xo
