Aaron's transplant

Donation protected
Aaron has a rare disease called Karyomegalic Intestitial Nephritis ( KTN ). The filtering tubes of his kidneys become fibrous and inadequate. The cause is speculative and involves DNA mutations from suspected genotoxins. This has left Aaron with a kidney function that is diminishing rapidly everyday. After completing all necessary testing  Aaron qualified to go on the organ donor list for a cadaver kidney. The next step would be to get ready for dialysis which is something we want to avoid.
The waiting list for a cadaver kidney can be as long as 5 years! Aarons story was shared via social media to see if we could find a live donor.  Aaron was blessed with a live donor Jen Mort Maher. She was a perfect match. Aaron can't express how grateful he is for her gift of life.!  Aaron's transplant  surgery was May 31st and it was successful! Aaron is home recovering but will be unable to return to work for a minimum of three to four months. Aaron has Dr. appointments twice a week in Boston and his wife has had to cut back her work schedule to care for him. Even though he will be receiving disabilty payments, they will fall short! With his mortgage, college tuitions and everyday expenses it will be extremely diffcult for him to make ends meet.
