<div>Sinds februari 2025 is Kélynn aan het kwakkelen. Meerdere bezoeken aan de huisarts en spoedarts volgden, maar zonder duidelijke diagnose. Tot Paasmaandag, 21 april 2025. Opnieuw gingen ze naar de spoedpost in Emmen, niet wetende dat dit het einde zou zijn van maandenlange onzekerheid—en het begin van een nog grotere strijd.

<div>Die avond werd Kélynn gezien door de juiste spoedarts en kreeg ze direct bloedtransfusies, die nodig waren om haar in leven te houden. Rond 23:30 uur kwam het verschrikkelijke nieuws: <strong><em>"Jullie dochter, Kélynn, heeft leukemie."</em></strong>

<div>De volgende ochtend werd Kélynn samen met Manon naar het Prinses Máxima Centrum in Utrecht gebracht. Dit gespecialiseerde ziekenhuis biedt oncologische zorg aan kinderen en heeft zelfs een hele verdieping gewijd aan leukemiepatiëntjes. De artsen legden het traject uit dat hen te wachten stond: de eerste vier weken zouden bepalen waar de leukemie zich precies bevindt en hoe de chemotherapie hierop reageert. Eén ding stond al vast, de behandeling zou minstens twee jaar duren.

<div>Na enkele dagen in het Prinses Máxima Centrum mocht het gezin weer naar huis. Maar tijdens een controlebezoek viel iets op: vreemde vlekjes op Kélynn haar huid. Ze mochten die dag niet terug naar huis. Een reeks aan onderzoeken volgde, en de uitslag was verontrustend: de Fusarium Solani-schimmel.

<div>In combinatie met leukemie is deze schimmel levensbedreigend, en helaas is er nog maar weinig bekend over hoe deze effectief te bestrijden is.

<div>Sinds 6 mei is het Prinses Máxima Centrum het tweede thuis van het gezin. Door de schimmel krijgt Kélynn naast de standaard medicatie voor leukemie ook aanvullende behandelingen, met alle gevolgen van dien. Robin en Manon staan sinds 21 april 24/7 paraat, maar de zorgen blijven groeien. Hun wereld staat stil. Werken is onmogelijk, maar de maandelijkse kosten lopen door, hier komen de extra kosten voor Kélynn haar behandelingen bij.

<div>On behalf of Kélynn, Robin and Manon, we would like to draw your attention to the following: Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia in combination with the Fusarium Solani fungus.

<div>Kélynn has been feeling unwell since February 2025. Several visits to the GP and emergency doctor followed, but without a clear diagnosis. Until Easter Monday, April 21, 2025. They went to the emergency room in Emmen again, not knowing that this would be the end of months of uncertainty—and the beginning of an even bigger battle.

<div>That evening, Kélynn was seen by the right emergency doctor and immediately received blood transfusions, which were necessary to keep her alive. Around 11:30 PM, the terrible news came: <strong><em>"Your daughter, Kélynn, has leukemia."</em></strong>

<div>The next morning, Kélynn and Manon were taken to the Princess Máxima Center in Utrecht. This specialized hospital offers oncological care to children and even has an entire floor dedicated to leukemia patients. The doctors explained the process that awaited them: the first four weeks would determine exactly where the leukemia is located and how the chemotherapy reacts to it. One thing was already certain: the treatment would last at least two years.

<div>After a few days in the Princess Máxima Center, the family was allowed to go home. But during a check-up visit, something caught their attention: strange spots on Kélynn's skin. They were not allowed to go home that day. A series of tests followed, and the result was alarming: the Fusarium Solani fungus.

</div>
<div>In combination with leukemia, this fungus is life-threatening, and unfortunately little is known about how to combat it effectively.
</div>

</div>
<div>Since May 6, the Princess Máxima Center has been the family's second home. Because of the fungus, Kélynn is receiving additional treatments in addition to the standard medication for leukemia, with all the consequences that entails. Robin and Manon have been on call 24/7 since April 21, but their worries continue to grow. Their world has come to a standstill. Working is impossible, but the monthly costs continue, and the extra costs for Kélynn's treatments are added to this.
