Young Entrepreneurs Need Your Help

We often say that our lives are governed by all external factors that surround us; our environments, our social circles, our upbringings - but is this actually true?

Allow us to introduce ourselves; we’re Shemarlle & Jagdeep - business partners. Up until this year, we believed this opening statement was true, just like most other people. That we were a product of what happens around us. But we’ve both come to realise that we can do something different with our lives, something special. We’ve become inspired by knowing that we can better people’s lives in different ways; we now believe that we can always challenge current social normalities & even change the world.

Who We Are

I'm Shemarlle, I'm 24 years old and I'm from London. I graduated two years ago from university and then got into a full-time sales role. During my time in University, I had three jobs to fund my fashion brand I was doing at the time, and after graduation, I was funding my brand with my salary. I realised later that when I was making an income from my fashion brand, I was able to help out my family a lot easier and I eventually quit one of my jobs which helped a lot with studies. As I was so passionate about the brand, I continued to keep it running after university.

This time last year I was in a bad space because my grandad died last year of stage 4 cancer, which left my family in shock, and being the oldest male in the family I felt the weight of having to take responsibility for providing for my family. The only way I knew how to do that was by working on my fashion brand as hard as physically possible. The situation became worse when the coronavirus hit and unfortunately I was one of the people that lost their job because of it.

But being in this position made me realise that creating my own business will not only help create jobs for other people who are also in need of an income, but it will help my family get out of the debt my grandad sadly left us in, especially my grandmother who is at pension age but still working during a dangerous time to even just step outside the house. I believe that my business will be able to help me achieve these goals.

I’m Jag, I’m 18 years old and I’m also from London. I finished college this year and originally had planned to go to university to study economics. However, I always knew that university wasn’t my thing; I was in a bad place during the last stages of college, I hated everything I was doing, just dreading getting up every morning to repeat the same tedious day.

My real passion has always been business. I’ve always felt like I was meant for more than just the social norm, as if I have a greater purpose. I saw my parents do the socially acceptable things for as long as I can remember, and seeing them still really struggle financially was heartbreaking; I knew I’d be the one to change things. Not just for me, but for my family as well.

So, aged 17, I started my first company. A social Media Marketing Agency. Truth be told, I hadn’t grown up enough to run a business, and as a result, the business was unsuccessful. But this company, in return, made me some fantastic contacts and taught me so much. It was the first time I had felt alive for years. It cemented my passion for business that will stay forever.

The Backstory

Both Shemar and I didn’t even know each other before the UK national lockdown commenced. We met through mutual contacts and quickly became friends after we worked on a previous project together. The project we worked on focused on arbitrage, and truthfully we were both equally underqualified but were both determined to make it work - we’ve even quit our jobs just to be dedicated to the cause.

Over the past 6 months, we have grown together, not just as friends but as professionals also. We both loved the fact that we worked & hustled as hard as each other, as well as sharing similar ambitions. It was also so comforting knowing that there was another person at the same stage as each other, meaning we could level up together, and that’s exactly what we did.

We learned about an industry that, in the peak of the pandemic, was completely consistent which is pretty impressive considering we both hadn’t even heard of the industry six months ago!

How You Can Help

And that is why we turn to the general public for help. We both are young and need help to raise money to embark on a bigger and better business journey together, to change our lives.

We are raising funds to start our own business in the arbitrage industry. I mentioned arbitrage before, but what is it? Arbitrage is the simultaneous buying and selling in two different markets, aiming to profit from a price difference; we are aiming to do this with commodities. We’ve worked on a similar project before, except this time we hope it will be bigger and better than ever. With your financial support and sponsorship, we will be able to fund our trading account where we can hopefully get things kick-started.

This will mean the absolute world to us if you could help out in any way possible. Both of us have not had the best upbringings, to say the least. This opportunity will mean that we can both become providers in our families and ensure they have a better quality of life that will last forever. We plan to use our profits that will be made by our company not only organically grow the current business, but for us to also diversify ourselves; mainly into the property industry and various other investments.

There are two types of people in this world: those who allow external surroundings to dictate who they are, and those who create their own destiny. Which will you help us to become?

We appreciate your support so much. Thank you!
