Howard University Sisters Take Forbes

Hi friends! Our names are Shondace Thomas and Shaunelle Thomas. We are both Computer Science majors with an avid interest in Technology, Entrepreneurship, and Creativity. In college, we have attended 4 conferences together; however, this Forbes Under 30 Summit is unique because it will be our first non-technical conference!

Shondace is a Junior studying Computer Science at Howard University. Currently, she is participating in a semester-long exchange program at Stanford University. At Stanford, she realized the emphasis placed on creativity and innovation - two traits she is trying to incorporate into her life. As a member of the HBCUvc fellowship, she was exposed to venture capitalists and the VC world. This program also changed her perspective on the entrepreneurial world,  by allowing her to see that there isn’t one right path to become a VC or entrepreneur.

Shaunelle is a Senior, Computer Science student at Howard University. On her first Spring Break, she volunteered in Newark, New Jersey to mentor young high school students. In her second year of college, she also worked as a Resident Assistant on campus.  Shaunelle is an alum of Google x Howard’s first Tech Exchange program - program in which Computer Science students are taught their courses from Howard professors and Googlers. Here, she was exposed to the Innovation and Entrepreneurial drive that is prevalent in Silicon Valley. Additionally, this past summer, she was an intern at Amrock (Quicken Loans’ Family of Companies) in Detroit. During this internship, she noticed that Detroit is definitely a city on the rise and is elated to be back!


We are elated to be selected as Under 30 Scholars. This Forbes Summit will take place in Detroit, Michigan from October 27 - 30. As such, we decided to create this fundraiser together instead of individually because alone we can do so little. 


At this Summit, we will be able to connect with fellow scholars and leaders in the industry, network, meet trailblazers, contribute my insights, hear how these trailblazers are thinking and how they are thinking so that we can get a preview of their mindset.


Unfortunately, this fantastic opportunity does not include lodging or travel stipends. Any and all donations to help us attend the Forbes Summit would be greatly appreciated! Your donation will be used for hotel accommodations, plane tickets, food and transportation around Detroit.
