Housing for Tommie Lou Long

At 5:00 pm on Tuesday, April 10th, her daughter and grandchildren rushed into the living room to tell Tommie Lou the house was on fire!  As most of us would have reacted, it took a second for those words to resonate.  Everything Tommie Lou owned was in that house; her clothes, furniture, keepsakes, photos - but all she could think about was making certain everyone was out of the house and safe.  

Tommie Lou is 75 years old, and, like many senior adults on a small, fixed income, homeowners insurance did not make the list of necessities.  She instead had to  choose medicine, electricity, water and groceries.  She also has a medical condition that has caused her to be hospitalized 5 different times since October, 2017.  

Tommie Lou is staying with a friend who lives just up the street from where the house burned.  Our plan with this campaign is simple: to have enough funds to place housing back on the lot where she would like to spend the rest of her days.
