House of Vegans Needs a Grill

House of Vegans has made the difficult decision to close its doors due to financial strain. With slower business traffic and unchanged payment obligations, it has become a challenge to maintain. Instead of laying off employees, we have decided to close until funds rise again. We would appreciate your support even more now. Your donations will go toward grill installation and costs to reopen and get back to providing the community with delicious vegan food options.

House of Vegans opened its doors summer of 2020. The black owned vegan restaurant stemmed from humble beginnings of selling vegan dinners out of the owner, Stefan Hawkins’, home. The most popular dish, the Slap Burger, skyrocketed the now established restaurant to success. Currently Slap Burgers are only offered on Sundays due to an adjacent restaurant’s grill availability and HOV’s lack of one in their restaurant. HOV is looking to raise money to buy and install a grill of their own so that Slap Burgers may be offered on all days of operation.

Now deep into the pandemic, House of Vegans would likely have to let a few members of the kitchen staff go due to slowed business traffic.  It pains us to do so, but unfortunately we may be approaching that reality. We would use a portion of the money to pay and maintain our employees as well as form a safety cushion for rent of the restaurant. HOV would like to be 3 months ahead in order to confidently continue to serve our guests. Any and all efforts to help reach this goal are incredibly appreciated and accepted.
