The One Humanity Institute is answering the transitional housing necessity of Ukrainian refugees by turning one of our buildings into the House of Hope to provide for their needs during traumatic and challenging times. While at the Polish/Ukrainian border shortly after the war began, we visited the registration centers, train stations and shelters. We saw people sleeping on the floors in crowded situations and then only so many homes that the Polish people have to offer.

Through the generous donations of friends and supporters, we have been able to refurbish our building from disrepair into a warm and welcoming home for families fleeing the Ukrainian war. We finished the first phase, and the refugee guests are settling in with more to come. We are committed to continuing and are looking for funds to support our group of refugee families: Our goal is to provide a free living space and food for at least 3-6 months.

Philip Hellmich Memorial Peace Lab:
Dedicated to his memory as a Peacebuilder & Force for Goodness In the world.
We are now in the process of setting up a Peace Computer Laboratory to act as an internet café for the youth living in the house as well as Ukrainian and Polish students attending the local school. We will offer the following: long-distance learning, enabling children and youth to communicate with Kyiv Peace School, as well as life skills, job skills and workshops on intensive Polish.

Philip dedicated his life to peace-building -- from the PeaceCorps to Search for Common Ground, moving into Director of Peace at The Shift Network, Philip was constantly working to promote peace, from Inner to International. He lived an extraordinary life of service and did everything he could to amplify and connect the voices that worked for peace across our globe. It seems only fitting that Philip’s name and likeness should be forever etched on the wall of a central hub for peace-building within the House of Hope in Poland.

Please support our efforts to build the Peace Lab as well as to be able to provide longer-term transitional housing for Ukrainian families. We hope is to provide safe housing where people can heal, feel supported and give back to the community.
