NEXT BIG CHAPTER IN LIFE : HOUSE + PERMANENT ART STUDIO

2020 has been a rough year for many. For me, it began in March when I was laid off from work. Initial unemployment funding was enough to afford my bills, but after the additional COVID-19 surplus ended, I was forced to move out of my apartment in Los Angeles in late July. Within a week from the move, I had a falling out with my partner who I was living with at the time. So I began my second move, packing what I could fit in my Jeep Liberty, leaving many of my belongings behind. I drove cross-country with my cat, Luna to move back in with my Mom in southwest Florida. I was devastated; 30 years old and moving back in with my Mom with no idea what the future would hold. I lost my California health insurance and spent the better part of the first 3 months on hold with the unemployment department for an identity verification from my address change. I felt like I leapt back 10 years. The only thing that kept me going was making art. I used any space I could find to make art and any materials I could get my hands on.

Since being back in my suburban hometown, it's became increasingly clear that what I really need in the next chapter of my life is a place to call home and the appropriate space for my art studio. With my previous employment now one of the most dangerous jobs during the pandemic, I have been brainstorming for a new financial foothold. I've been reinventing myself and my future goals and I realize that city life is not conducive to the future I want to build for myself. I don't want to be forever tied to high-priced rent that increases every year. I want a yard with a garden to grow my own food. I want to live more sustainably and have no rules for what I can paint on! Since quarantine began, I've been working full-time on my art for the first time, creating projects and to-do-lists for myself to keep the fire burning. I'm looking to purchase an older home that needs work. During my time here, I've been helping my Mom's fiance renovate the house and I've been learning a plethora of new skills along the way. I'm looking for a home to become my new daily project.

I'm reaching out to friends, family and anyone who can contribute to helping me afford to purchase a modestly priced home that will become a life project, forever home and art studio for me and my fur baby.

Thank you in advance. Any amount is appreciated <3 <3 <3
