Bellingen's Houdini Honey

Since this story came out, a whole bunch of people have suggested I open a crowd-funding campaign to help put against my escape-artist kelpie's run ins with the local council.

Any money raised will help pay of nearly $4,000 worth of fines she's clocked-up with the local ranger and also get some money for our local hospital where she, Honey, is starting work as a therapy dog so we can help pay for her costs there (eg. vet bills, bones, tidbits, baths).

For years, the kids and I have continually tried to keep our backyard doggie-proof,  but this dog is on a another level all together. She came and lived with us about 5 years ago, she loves it with us here and comes back everyday, but if the kids aren't around and I'm working - boom - she's gone! Over fences, under fences, through fences, tearing-up floor boards,  window frames, curtains - if she wants to get out - she will. She's the canine equivalent of Houdini and guess what? - her head is smaller than her neck, so collars don't hold her. Harnesses don't contain her - she's too smart - she just wriggles out, no matter how closely I tie her in. 

She just loves getting out and socialising - the whole town knows her and loves her.

Except the ranger - he hates her. But he loves sending her little notes in the mail of photos he's taken of her out and about, attached to a fine of $275 a pop. It's just getting out of hand, but this campaign will create a shift in the way he operates, I reckon. 

I've got a payment plan in place which I've been paying religiously for ages. I was prepared just to cop it sweet, but since it's come out that the local council have fined us this much for a dog everyone loves, people have rallied around and offered help.
