Build Hot Showers for Growing Up Wild

Donation protected

A 501(c)3 nonprofit program, Growing Up Wild provides bilingual outdoor education to economically disadvantaged youth and families in Santa Cruz County.  Our mission is to help youth and families develop a connection to nature, life skills, and health and fitness through camping experiences in the wilderness. We have been operating on a grassroots level since 2008, providing family camps and our rites of passage program, Boys in the Woodz, for adolescent boys. Each year serve about 100 youth and 20 families with children. Youth in Boys in the Woodz paricipate in activities such as hiking, backpacking, swimming, wilderness skills, teambuilding, ropes courses, a sweat lodge, and much more.

Our family camps provide parents and children with a special experience bonding together while camping. Parents network together. Children are given unstructured time to play in a safe wilderness setting. We are currently in need of financial help to build a hot shower facility at our base camp before our 2014 summer program begins. All donations are tax deductible.  Please help us if you can to make this important addition to our base camp a reality.  Thank you.
