To the teams amazement, the first service brought lots of excitement and saw a little over 100 people in attendance! It was clear that God was doing something in downtown Anchorage! It was confirmation that the vision for Heart of the City, to be a catalyst for revival, was not just an empty mantra.
But here's the crazy part: The 8,000 sq ft building currently being occupied by Heart of the City is already being outgrown! With a regular attendance of nearly 300 and rising, it's clear that the Gospel is being proclaimed in such a way that people are responding.
And not only are people responding, they're responding at an unimaginable rate and so it's time for Heart of the City to do the same. That's the reason for this GoFund. A new space that is twice the size of the current space (and happens to share the same parking lot) has been signed on and plans are in place to make the tenant improvements and move in as soon as possible.
This, of course, is a very expensive endeavor in and of itself but what's become a major hurdle is the Municipality's requirement for Heart of the City to install a full sprinkler system which needs to be installed before the building can be occupied.
This may seem like a tall tree to chop down to some, but it's nothing when you link arms with a bunch of crazies like the people of Heart of the City who are heading in one direction for one purpose. What an exciting time to be a part of the Church!
