My name is Arnold Mendez. My family and I are from Conroe, TX (Leigha, Mattie, Annie, Maverick and Cooper). We evacuated from our house on Sunday morning.
On Aug 25, hurricane Harvey slammed into the Texas coast, stranding and flooding hundreds of thousands of Texas residents. We personally know of three families that have been flooded out of their homes. In true Texan fashion, everyone is pitching in and helping out where they can. Everyday citizens are combining efforts and completing 1 out of every 10 water rescues with private equipment. Texans are housing neighbors during the aftermath.
As some of you know, my wife and I run the kitchen for our church summer camp. We plan, cook, prepare and serve over 2,900 meals over the course of 4 days each summer. We have the experience, equipment and expertise to help in this time of need, we just don't have the funds to pump out meals on a continual basis. We have been looking for a way to help, and we have decided to use our resources and feed those in need. We can cook, prepare and deliver a home cooked meal to a flooded family, first responder, or a shelter for $3.25 on average per person. Donate $32.50 and feed 10 People. Donate $65.00 and feed 20 people.
We have pledged $500.00 of our own money to get started, but we need your help. We will be cooking all meals and organizing delivery of these meals with those who wish to volunteer. We ask that you help us in feeding those in need. All meals will be home cooked, fresh meals, that will help heal the spirit and bring a touch of normality to those who need it. Join forces with us and make a difference. 100% of ALL FUNDS will be used to provide meals. We will withdraw funds as needed and will post receipts in updates to keep everyone informed. Any leftover funds will be used to ship truckload quantities of supplies from Shreveport, Baton Rouge, and surrounding locations.
