Horror Short: Haste

Donation protected
Dear friends and kind philanthropists!

My name is Cheryl and I am currently in pre-production for my horror short film Haste. This is a story centered around a young women, Kay, trapped in her college apartment and unable to find work, while all her peers moved on to successful careers. In the mean time, some unusual pests infests her house and manifests into a debilitating monster.*

For this project, I am working alongside the wonderful Director of Photography, Jes Gallegos . Jes is a professional DP based in the Bay Area, working on commercials, narrative shorts and corporate shoots. We want to use this film to express some of our fears and uncertainties from living in a hyper competitive and results-driven society. We also want to use this opportunity to collaborate with a talented and diverse Bay Area cast & crew, in order to promote minority representations on and off screen.

This is a passion project inspired by films with social undertones such as Get Out and Sorry to Bother You. Our crew and casts have signed on to work unpaid, as support to the story and our mission. We would love to use the funds you donate to ensure a high quality production and a good experience for everyone involved.

Currently, we have assembled the core crew and are in the process of auditioning for the cast led by Genevamay Colcol. We have location secured, script locked and looking to shoot in Mid-June. Below is the breakdown for what the funds will be used for:

- Cast & crew catering
- Special equipment rental
- Set & costume design
- Cast & crew transport compensation

I am immensely grateful for any donation you can offer. I believe that this project will bring great value to the development of all the cast and crew involved, as well as support the independent film scene in the Bay. I hope to produce content viable for film festival submissions and look forwards to sharing the results with everyone!

*For those of you who see an uncanny parallel between myself and the main character, I can assure you that the unfortunate horror that unfolds in the film is a dramatization of some experiences I’ve had; I am in fact, doing quite well with no monsters in my apartment.
