  ‘… To educate a woman is to educate a nation…” Dr. Kwegyir-Aggrey (1875-1927)

This quote is emblazoned on a bust, on the front lawn atop the hill, one of the first sights that hit you as you enter the school….

On August 12th, 1945, over 70 years ago, a seed was sown on the hill we know as Angel’s Hill to embody the ethos. What participants of that ceremony did not imagine was how the seed would grow into a giant tree that will go on to provide shade, knowledge and the building blocks for the many great women of our motherland and beyond, who had the privilege to grow under its branches.

Holy Child School, an all-female secondary school located on a serene sprawling hill in the Central Region of Ghana, has provided the right environment for girls to learn, thrive and excel not just academically but holistically in all aspects of their burgeoning lives.

It is our tradition that each alumni year group, on its 25th Anniversary, provides funding and implements a sustainable legacy project intended to modernize and address a critical need that will benefit current and future students and faculty alike by raising the standards of the school.

This project includes the provision and installation of solar panels and an inverter system that will aid electrification of the classrooms and security lights within each block; a set 5-year funded maintenance period of the system (post-installation) and training for maintenance crew as well as interested students on its operation.

The Cost estimation to see this through is Ghc 550,000 ($137,500 USD) and members of our group collectively have committed to making personal contributions to help realize this amount.

Please help us ensure LIGHTS ARE ALWAYS ON in this school that has been educating women in Ghana for over 70 years...

Our goal is to ensure funds that are spent by the school (approximately GHC 200,000 / USD $50,000) per year towards electricity can be diverted towards improving its infrastructure, upgrading it's science/math/language/arts laboratories and facilities by taking away the worry of keeping the LIGHTS ON!!!

In addition, these students, who will one day fill the country with the next generation, have the opportunity to start learning practically, the power of the sun, the benefits of renewable energy and the pride in making an effort to reduce their carbon footprint in an effort to KEEP OUR PLANET HEALTHY.

I hope that as you donate, you are reminded that you are now part of the elevation of a young girl as her steps are molded through education towards a brighter future.

Thank you for your generosity. Please spread the word!
