Hoppy Helpers Easter Basket Drive - 2019

3 years ago I decided to make an extra Easter basket and post it on FB to see if there was a local family in my community who might not be able to afford one for their child. I found one and left a basket on the doorstep Easter morning so their little girl could get a surprise from the Easter bunny. Many people responded to my post saying that they wanted to do the same the next year, so I decided to organize!
Since then, we have delivered 195 baskets to children in the Benicia, Vallejo, and Fairfield area. This year's goal is 120 baskets, but we have a request for 150 additional baskets for 2020 for families served by St Vincent de Paul's in Benicia. To help meet that goal, we are looking for additional community partners in Solano County for 2020 and any excess funds raised during this fundraising drive will go toward purchasing on sale items to meet our 2020 goal.
Hoppy Helpers is a volunteer orgaization that collects, assembles, and distributes Easter Baskets to underprivileged children, primarily in Solano County, CA. Many of the children we serve are in foster care, shelters, or without a home, but others may be the child next door. Last year we distributed 120 baskets through local charities with the help of our community partners, volunteers, and donors.
Hoppy Helpers is entirely run by volunteer efforts so all donations go directly to purchasing supplies for basket distribution. We accept financial contributions, materials donations, and completed baskets for children age 1-17 though the majority of our baskets go to children who are 12 and under.
Each basket contains:
· Stuffed animal
· Chocolate bunny
· Small toy(s), art supplies, and/or journal or coloring book
· Book (when age of recipient is known)
· Bubbles
· Plastic eggs with candy in them
· Easter grass
· Basket
· Basket bag (to contain all of the above)
