HOPE Sussex Community Education and Learning

Is a community-led project with Home Education at its heart.

We are the misfits, the renegades, the square pegs in round holes. But we are not alone. We have each other. And we are in this TOGETHER, and our likeminded community saw the need to come together and create something new  - as The World is Changing!

Our hub is in a beautiful location right in the heart of Sussex. Not only does it have 5-7 good-sized rooms for tutors to hire, but we also have a dedicated room for the under 6's and it has all the outdoor space we need to teach our children the life skills they will need to live a more responsible and independent life. We have an allotment where the children and their families can get stuck in and learn how to grow from seed and where they can learn the health benefits of not just vegetables and fruit, but also weeds and herbs.

There is an amazing 80 acres of woodland where our children can enjoy Forestry and Nature Learning to experience outdoor learning and 11 acres of grass fields for sports, summer fairs, camping, and many more events! There is an outbuilding for trade skills such as woodwork, engineering, and, practical skills. H O P E Sussex is ‘hoping’ to develop the site even further over time!

We would love a playground, a cafe and, a home economics building, plus a sports hall/theatre. Having these amazing facilities for tutors to hire and families to enjoy brings a whole new meaning to home education. It means there is a support network for families and far fewer car trips for them! Home education can be expensive as families choosing to home ed don’t receive any of the £5-7,000 a year spent on children’s education by the government. HOPE SUSSEX  would like to change this and as well as developing the site, we would like to raise enough money to help families with the cost, so no child misses out!

Here at HOPE SUSSEX , we believe these children are the future and we will do everything we can to support and nurture them.
Please support us in our aim! Any donation no matter how small will make a difference!

There are initially three phases to grow and develop the site.

Phase One: will focus on making the site usable in terms of 'learning room' equipment, washing facilities, and compostable toilets.
It will also include renovating and improving the outside space with picnic tables, benches, and a child-friendly playground.

Phase Two: will be the time to develop and install a Community Cafe aka Snack Shack and The H O P E Hub aka Hub Of Personalised Enterprise  that will provide good healthy food for the children, their families, and visitors to enjoy. It will see the introduction of ducks and chickens whose eggs will be available for sale and served in our cafe along with
the produce from our allotments.
The children will be very much involved in the Home Economics and Enterprise of this community project and it will be a central hub for
support and friendship.

Phase Three: will be where we would like to enhance and grow the site even further with its facilities like a Sports Hall / Theatre and if possible a swimming pool! This will give huge opportunities for local business involvement and a venue to provide skills and physical
education in all weathers.
