There is a beautiful little girl that really needs her community to stand with her. Shatoya Monique Riley is 12 years old. She is in the 6th grade and attends Aiken Middle School. On Wednesday, April 17, 2019 she was seen and admitted to Augusta (AU). The wonderful doctors there ran several tests and once all the results returned, Shatoya was in complete liver failure. The doctors made the decision to have her airlifted to the Childrens Healthcare of Atlanta (Emory) to try and save as much liver function as possible. Right now, Shatoya is still in Childrens Healthcare of Atlanta and has had not improvement to her liver function. She has already required transfusions. The physicians there have decided to place her on the transplant list as of Friday, April, 19 2019, and they have stated that she will be there at least a month. She will need medications, treatments, therapy, and all the support she can get. Shatoya has two other siblings. Her single mother Mary Lawrence is trying to juggle work, care for her other children and being by Shatoya’s side as the medical bills continue to climb. Right now, this family could really use some help to ensure that Shatoya has the financial resources required to receive a transplant. Any amount that you can donate will be appreciated more than you will ever know.
