Hope For Khorey

Hi everyone! I always get messages and questions concerning Khorey and what happened and I truly felt discouraged, fear, helplessness, and heartache each time I tried to explain what happened but now I have come to terms that my son Khorey is a blessing and although he has a long battle ahead of him, my husband and I will be here no matter what making sure he is ok every step of the way....I had a healthy pregnancy and seems like everything was normal with my delivery on June 30, 2018 at 2:05 pm ....After giving birth to a healthy 6lbs 8oz baby we were moved to a regular room for me and baby to get rest. After visit from my family I put my son Khorey in his bassinet kissed him goodnight and went to sleep at 11:30pm. At 12:11 am the nurse came in to check vitals and it was time for Khorey's feeding ....At that moment my worst nightmare happen, I discovered that my son was not breathing..I carried his lifeless body to the nurses station to ask for help...Code Blue rang all throughout the hopital while nurses and doctors ran into our room..He had to be rescuitated and til this day we don't know how long he was down or what caused him to stop breathing.....What we do know is he suffered a severe anoxic brain injury....He was diagnosed with Hypoxic Ischemic Encephalopathy. For the first 3 days of life he was having seizures and was put into a medical coma to stop the seizures...He was also intubated/ventilator for the first 2 weeks....he was transferred from Women's and Children Hospital Lafayette, La hospital to Children's Memorial Hermann Houston, TX. Once he was transferred he has been breathing on his own but still has no suck, gag, or swallow reflex which means he cannot eat by mouth..He also still has issues with breathing due to the fact his brain is not sending the correct messages to breath. He has a Gtube placed and still currently has breathing issues .....there are all kinds of things that can go wrong with his growth later on in life like Cerbal Palsy and other issues but he has a strong support system in his dad and I with prayers and having faith in God we will do everything to make Khorey's life as normal as possible.....I'm not writing this for sympathy but only to say that my son is a figther and because doctor's didnt even think he would live or do half the things he is doing...I was so nervous about sharing Khorey's story but I know he is a gift from god and there is nothing to be ashamed of because he is a living and breathing testimony. There is currently a treatment that can improve Khorey's life and help with generating more cells in the parts of his brain that was damage. It is called Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy. The treatments will be done in New Orleans for 2 months by Dr. Harch. Unfortunately this treatment is not covered by the medical insurance. We are asking for help in raising the funds for Khorey to partake in this treatment to improve his life. Anything given will go 100% to Khorey's care.
