Hope For Katie

We areWe are trying to raise money to help fund expenses from our daughter's medical expenses. Katherine is 10 years old and in fifth grade and in gifted. Her IQ is 135. She is one of the sweetest children you could ever hope to meet. Recently our world was turned upside down. We had to call 9-1-1 because she was having a seizure, at the time we did not know that. After time in the ICU and many tests such as CT Scan, and MRI the doctors at Erlanger Medical Center here in Chattanooga, TN (where we are from) discovered Katherine has a Glioma, a type of brain tumor. The tumor is under the right frontal lobe of her brain and below the motor cortex. Pressure from the tumor caused the seizure she had. The doctors at Erlanger decided she would get better treatment at Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville, TN. That is 180 miles from where we live. Right now we are going back and forth from Chattanooga to Nashville. The doctors are trying to figure out the best treatment for her. We have a long road ahead of us. Her dad has taken Family Medical Leave from his work, but the catch is those days are not paid days. We have another child who is 9. We are not sure how we are going to pay her medical bills, we live paycheck to paycheck and are not covered by any health insurance at this time, we are trying. Bills are piling up on us and we don't own our home so we still have to pay rent some how. Any help right now is very much need and we are thankful for it. We lost one child 5 years ago to S.I.D.S and we don't want to lose another one. So we are fighting and praying for this to be fixed some how. We are living are worse nightmare with Katherine being sick and now the expenses piling up. I don't know what else to say other than thank you for you help and prayers. God willing we can get through this.

We are currently at St.Jude. It is wonderful however while they do so much they can not help pay for Katie's dad or brother to visit. Please help support this wonderful sweet child by helping her to see her family during this hard time. She has an astrocytoma on the right side of her brain. She is currently getting radiation for it. With treatment she only has a 50-60% survival rate.
