HOPE FOR JANET, Stage 4 Uterine Cancer

Donación protegida

Janet is a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, friend, and pet lover. Anyone who knows my mother will tell you she is generous to a fault, warm, caring, vibrant, positive, and above all else, has an endless supply of love for every person she meets. My mother lives an active, healthy, full life and spends her time working, exercising, running 5Ks, spending time with her family, playing with her grandchildren, and taking care of her pets. I do not know anyone who does not think highly or love my mother. She is truly amazing and I am so grateful to be her daughter.

The month, everything changed..

After a misdiagnosis in Tennessee, in June of 2014, My mother was diagnosed with Stage IV Undifferentiated Metastatic Uterine cancer after receiving a second opinion at MD Anderson. This is a rare form of uterine cancer that has now spread to her liver and pelvic bone.  The misdiagnosis in Tennessee which caused her cancer to metastasize. This was heartbreaking. How is this possible when my mother did everything right?  She eats healthy, excersizes, went for yearly mammograms, physicals, and gynecological visits.  Cancer does not discriminate.

After much research and discussion, my family decided that in order to beat this monster, my mother's only hope is to receive her cancer treatment from the world-renowned hospital MD Anderson in Houston, Texas. This would entail moving my mother from Tennesse to Houston for the minimum of 8 months.

There's only one problem
– MD Anderson is out of my mother's health insurance network let alone the extremely high cost of housing in the Houston area. My parents are on a fixed income and do not have all of the funds necessary to pay for my mother's treatment and housing even with the help of family.

NOBODY should ever be in a position where the rest of their life is determined in dollars and not days.  This is not something anyone could have planned for, even though my parents worked hard their whole lives, have always kept up with their insurance, and taken care of their health.

How You Can Help

We’ve set up a GoFundMe campaign with a modest goal to help cover some her medical expenses and the high cost of living near the medical center in Houston.
Please join us on Facebook to stay in touch, or if you would like to donate, join us on the GoFundMe site here. Every donation, no matter how small, will help to give Janet the treatments she needs to beat this disease and live a full life again. Even if you can’t donate, just taking the time to share the campaign, website, or facebook page with your friends will help.

I am just a daughter who is fighting to save her mother.

Your support is greatly appreciated. Every donation helps.
