<div>Friends near and far—we are sounding the rallying cry for our cherished friend and comrade, Joe "Joey" Ruoto, who is courageously facing a difficult health battle.

<div>Joey has not been feeling his best lately and unfortunately, the situation is more challenging than anyone could have imagined. Our friend has been diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor on the front left side, which has unfortunately progressed to the right side. On Monday, February 5th, Joey is scheduled to undergo brain surgery at UVA. His medical team is hopeful that with a successful surgery, chemotherapy may be an option, however, the cancer has already caused significant damage. Regrettably, the family has been informed that, cognitively, Joey will no longer be able to work or make important decisions.

<div>Joey Ruoto has overcome some of life’s most difficult challenges, including the loss of his children’s mother in 2016. He is known for his easy smile, kind spirit, servant leadership, unwavering faith, and for his devotion to his children, his church, and his career at UVA. He is also known for his musical talents and his commitment to teaching music to others through his <a href="https://youtube.com/@JoeRuoto?si=1sX9jY3X7nH2PdjQ" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Youtube</a> channel.

<div>With Joey’s sudden illness, his oldest son Cole, a recent college graduate, is shouldering the responsibility of making decisions for his father and caring for his siblings. Canyon is navigating his second year at VCU while Corryn, a high school senior, has been making plans for university in the fall. Joey recently shared that she will be following in his footsteps pursuing music at Belmont University in Nashville. These children are Joey’s pride and joy, and he has been 150% committed to their success. Let's rally together, show our love, and be the support system Joey and his children so rightfully deserve at this time.
