Pray for Cecilia

Donation protected
Our sweet mom, Cecilia (Cece), has been ill since October 2013.  In March of 2014, we were told by doctors that she had a form of lymphoma, and shortly afterwards she began chemotherapy and radiation. Despite treatement, her health continued to worsen.

Months later, a second opinion in West Palm diagnosed Cecilia with non-alcoholic liver failure. Just last week, she was admitted to the Miami Transplant Institute at Jackson Memorial Hospital, several hours from our home in Palm Bay, where we learned that she is critically ill and in dire need of a liver transplant.

During all of the transplant testing, Jackson Memorial specialists reviewed the original biopsies, and what they found shocked us- Cecilia never had cancer to begin with. They believe she was misdiagnosed, and has actually been in liver failure for much longer than we realized. Though we hate that she has suffered so much due to the misdiagnosis, we were thankful for a correct diagnosis, allowing her to be considered for the transplant list.

Then, just yesterday, our mom took a turn for the worse. While in the ICU, she developed hypothermia and pneumonia. She is now breathing with the help of a ventillator and is on dialysis due to kidney failure.

At this point, my family members and I are rotating staying at the hospital 24/7 to be with her and sign consents for various procedures. We believe that she can hear us and knows that we're by her side, even though she cannot communicate with us. The doctors have told us she is a strong fighter, despite her worsening condition.

All funds raised will assist with medical expenses, and our family's basic needs at this time (meals, travel to and from the hospital, lost income from taking off work to be with our mom), and a new liver for Cecilia.  As part of her transplant contract, we have agreed to do mandatory fundraising due to the overwhelming expenses that come with this process.

We appreciate all of the prayers and support you all have given. It has sustained and uplifted us through this difficult time. We are believing in a miracle, and ask that you join us in praying for her comfort and health.
