This page was originally setup to help cover the cost of a liver transplant for Avi Krocha. Early Thursday morning, July 24, Avi passed away in the hospital while awaiting a liver transplant in Chennai, India. Doctors worked for hours but were ultimately unable to stop the bleeding from an internal hemorage. Her passing comes as a terrible shock because she was doing well and in good spirits the evening before. Avi was from Nagaland in northeast India and had been flown five hours away to Chennai because the local hospital was not equiped to deal with her condition. She had been in the hospital in Chennai for nearly two months as physicians attempted to treat her for acute hepatic failure as well as deal with numerous additional complications. Her best chance for survival was to recieve a liver transplant, a procedure that likely would have taken place within the next couple weeks.
Avi was 42 years old with a kind, loving, and cheerful personality. Because of her faith in Jesus Christ, Avi is now in a place where there is no more pain or suffering. She leaves behind her husband, Daniel, and two daughters: Zizi (8) and Liree (3 1/2).

The orginal goal to help cover the cost of a liver transplant for Avi was $128,000. With her passing, our goals have changed to save her family from a crushing financial burden in addition to losing a wife and mother. The total for Avi’s medical bills is $33,500. In addition, her body has to be returned for burial to her home in Nagaland which adds another $5,100. Her family does not have medical insurance and must cover all of the costs of her treatment out of pocket. Whatever you are able to give to help is appreciated beyond words. Our goal is to cover the financial need in this situation but we would also ask for your prayers, especially for Avi’s husband and two daughters as they mourn the loss of someone so central to their lives.
