"Hope Brigade" Fight against Cancer

Donation protected
I recently asked myself the question, “Why do bad things, happen to good people?” I found myself asking this question after my mother Herminia Martinez as most know as Minnie was diagnosed with Stage 4 Stomach Cancer. I have been diligently seeking an answer when I came across an article. Sermon shared by Gene Gregory, where he stated “Bad things happen to good people to remind us to trust God.”

It is easy to talk about how great God is. It is easy to talk about how we trust Him, but it is often only when we have nowhere else to turn, that we begin to mean what we say. I know now that God truly has a plan for her.

My mother has been in and out of the Hospital since November of 2014, with what we thought were medical issues such as Acid Reflux. She had a blocked intestine and twisted intestine as well which led us to the Hospital multiple times. It was not until New Year’s Day that she had an exploratory surgery where they found her Stomach Cancer.

The day’s following her exploratory surgery was more than rough on all of us, whereas most had a small chance of surviving what my mother had gone through after her surgery, too much surprise she made it through. Doctor’s did not even think she would, we are more than blessed to still have her here with us.

We have a long road ahead of us, from Doctor’s appointments to possible chemo therapy. The medical bills have already hit home, we as her kids have all pitched in as much as we can and still are.

Minnie is not only someone whom her family loves, but has been blessed with many other’s whom love her just as much. She not only makes time for her family, but for her friends. She is the woman you know you can count on to be there when you need her.

She hopes to go back to work as soon as she is able to, trust me nothing will keep her from working. She has worked all her life, she has provided for us and guided us and now it is our turn to help her in any way we can. Amongst us we all try and help with her bills as we are able to.

“A strong woman knows she has enough strength for her Journey, but a praying woman knows it’s in her Journey where she will gain her strength.”

We all look forward to seeing her, live her life the way she is used to. She has 4 grandchildren to get her strength back for, that include the oldest Allana Nicole Martinez 11, Addison Leigh Taylor 8, Caitlin Isabel Taylor 6, Christian Alexander Garcia 14 months. She looks forward to being able to play with them all more than anything!

Please join us in supporting Minnie through your donations and your prayers. Funds will go directly to her medical costs in efforts to relieve the financial burden from this heart-wrenching diagnosis.
