Hope for the Hathaway's

Hello! We are the Hathaway family! To briefly inform everyone what this fundraiser is for, my husband Chris was diagnosed with epilepsy at the age of 22. He had not experienced seizures before that time. He averaged 1-2 seizures a year up until roughly 3 years ago. At that time he began experiencing episodes sometimes once a week, or once every 2 weeks. It was at this point he was informed he could no longer work until the seizures were controlled. For every episode he has, it's another year he can not return to work at this point. His seizures have caused extreme damage to his one shoulder. The seizures alone have led to 3 shoulder surgeries. He has been denied disability so we are currently at the stage of fighting their decision with a lawyer. His recent seizure episodes have changed to where he is having numerous Grand Mal seizures at a time and now is also having partial seizures which he has never experienced before. In a desperate attempt to find out what is going on with my husband, I contacted the Epilepsy Center at the Cleveland Clinic! As you can imagine, with our main source of income gone, things have been rough to say the least. I am currently working part time, but my hours are very limited due to the fact that Chris can not be left alone due to his condition. We are praying that with the support of this fundraiser, we can make the numerous upcoming trips to Cleveland. Each trip will be over 3 hrs one way. Our first trip is August 18th 2015! After this trip we will be making numerous trips that will require us to spend many nights there due to testing and appointments. As of 5-6-16, Chris has been admitted into the long stay epilepsy unit 3 different times.  We are expecting at least one more once his surgery is completed on 5-19-16 and he's had time to heal from that.  We also found out in April 2016 that our 14 yr old daughter Codee, has chiari malformation. Our first trip to see a pediatric neurologist for her is May 31st 2016. We will be using the Cleveland clinic to treat her. We will learn more at that appt but what I can tell you is her symptoms are pretty bad. Headaches, dizziness, black outs, blurry/double vision, and most recent she is suffering from memory problems that are really really bothering her and she's having spells where she zones out for a brief moment.

So as expected, things are crazy around here now. Any money donated will go towards gas (there will be numerous trips for aftercare of Chris surgery that we weren't planning ahead for), hotel stays, upkeep of our truck (which is our only vehicle), food while in Cleveland, surgical wound care products for both Chris and Codee when needed, and small household bills here and there as needed (to help fill the gap from my missed days of work). We thank you in advance for even considering making a donation to our family. I really believe God has directed me to take Chris to the Cleveland Clinic for a specific reason and I had that same familiar feeling when we got the news about Codee! God Bless each of you! Much love from the Hathaway's
