HOPE 4 BASSETT

Debbie was diagnosed with Lupus in her mid twenties.  During that time, the disease attacked her body in numerous ways. She started out with severe pain in her joints and there were days where she could hardly walk or stand. Over the years, she has fought with everything from pulmonary embolisms to melanoma. She then contracted Autoimmune Hepatitis. The combination of the two caused Cirrhosis of the liver and over the last decade, her body has been fighting against her liver.  The doctors told her she would have ten years before they would have to consider a liver transplant.  Through it all, she maintained a positive attitude and outlook. In October, Debbie went into the hospital with severe pain in her abdomen.  It was determined that her gall bladder was non-functioning.  When determining how to proceed, it was discovered that her liver had declined rapidly and the liver transplant consideration went from a few years to as soon as possible.  Since then, Debbie has been out of work and in and out of the hospitals with complications related to her liver failure.  She continues to stay positive and works hard to keep her body and mind strong until she is able to receive a new liver. Keeping family and friends, especially her granddaughter, around has helped her hold on to hope for the future and an outlook for the next chapter in life to be healthy and pain free.  We ask for everyone to keep Debbie in your prayers.
