Hope House Christian Community

Donation protected
We are Matthew and Lorraine McCullagh. We met at a Christian Fellowship in 2017. We both have been led by the Holy Spirit since being baptised and walking in new lives. God put on Lorraine's heart before we met to set up a community to support those that are lonely and isolated in the community, and since dating this has been a shared vision of how we should live and love our neighbour.

We have prayed and asked for God's will for this vision for a long time. We have left it in his hands and for his will to be done in this, and moved onto other things but this vision and desire has not rested or left our spirits.

Since we started walking with God we have always found ourselves in front of people who are seeking these same things in life.

While we dated for nine months we had agreed as a married couple we would not live as a regular couple, but we would live in community. We married after dating for nine months and now nine months later we are expecting our first child in two months.

We still very much desire if it is God's will that we live in community with people.

We are looking to move into a house and live as a family and build and encourage one another in faith.  We seek to be a family that is sustainable no matter how much each individual brings to the community. We will look out for each other and support and provide for whatever each others needs are.

To be sustainable we would like to grow our own food and rear animals such as chickens and goats .

Since dating we have both given up our homes, jobs, cars and lived in order to trust God in faith. For ten months we learned to live by faith and see God provide even when we lived in Israel for three months not knowing anyone. Over that time we just relied on God and we did not seek any government assistance.

On returning to Ireland in September of 2019 we continued to live by our new found faith. So shortly after returning Lorraine was provided with work first and we lived from one income until I was provided a job.  A month into my job, I hurt my wrist and was off work for over two months, so we went back to living on one income. I returned to work at the start of February and days later due to Lorraine's type of work and the pregnancy, Lorraine had to stop work earlier than expected.
We had been saving for Hope House since starting work. God continues to give us understanding of what it means to be community and widens our vision for how this can be accomplished.

Proverbs 16:9

The heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps

Matthew 7.7–11 (NIV)

7 “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. 8 For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.

9 “Which of you, if your son asks for bread, will give him a stone? 10 Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? 11 If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him.

Acts 2:42-47 (NKJV)

And they continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers. Then fear came upon every soul, and many wonders and signs were done through the apostles. Now all who believed were together, and had all things in common, and sold their possessions and goods, and divided them among all, as anyone had need. So continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they ate their food with gladness and simplicity of heart, praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily those who were being saved.

Matthew 25: 31-46 (NKJV)

“When the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the holy angels with Him, then He will sit on the throne of His glory. All the nations will be gathered before Him, and He will separate them one from another, as a shepherd divides his sheep from the goats. And He will set the sheep on His right hand, but the goats on the left. Then the King will say to those on His right hand, ‘Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: for I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in; I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you came to Me.’ “Then the righteous will answer Him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry and feed You, or thirsty and give You drink? When did we see You a stranger and take You in, or naked and clothe You? Or when did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?’ And the King will answer and say to them, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.’ “Then He will also say to those on the left hand, ‘Depart from Me, you cursed, into the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels: for I was hungry and you gave Me no food; I was thirsty and you gave Me no drink; I was a stranger and you did not take Me in, naked and you did not clothe Me, sick and in prison and you did not visit Me.’ “Then they also will answer Him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not minister to You?’ Then He will answer them, saying, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to Me.’ And these will go away into everlasting punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.”
