Hope for The Veranda

Donation protected
During difficult times, coming together is the best bet we can make.  Our best strategy.  So I am hoping this will give our team the small edge it needs to stay strong and to keep moving forward.

Covid 19, as known as Coronavirus, has quickly spread across the country (and now our state).  Because of its infectious probability, several restaurants have closed down, due to health concerns.  We did our part and closed down the Veranda to ensure the health of our employees and customers.  However, with that sacrifice, most of our work force is now without a job.  Even finding a new one is scarce in the surrounding areas.  Isolation is our foremost strategy, so pursuing physical jobs is foolhardy.  With donations spread evenly to our work force, we can all rest a little easier and perhaps start work indirectly to help ourselves, and as a result, help others like us.  The service industry is going to take quite a blow.  In order to not completely annihilate one of Starkville's favorite restaurants, I'm starting a funding campaign to help myself and my colleagues.

By dividing the goal of $10,000 I can provide at least $150 to each employee of the Veranda, from the servers and bartenders, to the kitchen and management staff.  Some are already leaving so giving monetary relief will help give hope to the men and women of our work force.  It may even keep us together long enough to have a strong reopening when the time comes.

Thank you for your consideration and your donations.  It means more than you know. For the update the platform requests: My name is Bahaa Awad and I’m the bar manager of The Veranda. I’m from Tupelo, Mississippi but I’ve lived here in Starkville for more than 10 years. I’ve worked with some of these people for 4 years. This idea popped up in my head a few weeks ago, and it’s produced more than I imagined. Which is wonderful. Our community is terrific. I’ve contacted all the employees through our restaurant website, ScheduleFly. I’ve asked for each to send me their Venmo, Cash App, or physical addresses to send checks. I’ve already listed them all out with their respective means of money dispersement. 20 employees have responded that they need money, so I’ll be splitting it by giving each $200, and leaving the rest for the employees who weren’t able to reach out via computer/smartphone. I’ll be giving them that money in person. They’ve told me personally that the money is to be used for rent, utilities, medicine for their children, and groceries. I hope this clears any uncertainty for the intention of this campaign. Thank you.
