Hope for the Bergs

Per Christian Berg is a beloved husband, father of two young boys aged 7 and 5 and a son, brother and friend. he is 39 years old.
Late in 2016 he was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer, following a year of poor health. For a long time his GP was unconcerned as he is a fit and healthy young man and a sub 3 hour marathon runner. However, by the time the diagnosis was finally received the cancer which is very aggressive was already at stage 4.
He had chemotherapy and very invasive surgery, narrowly avoiding a stoma. He seemed to be doing well and the treatment seemed to have worked.
However just 10 months later, he was told the cancer had spread to his liver. Another huge surgery followed and half of his liver was removed. Then just a few months later, just as he had recovered properly from the operation, his blood tests showed the cancer was back and this time the operation required is life threatening and will lead to him having a huge loss of his physical abilities.
The family have started trying a new diet including juicing organic vegetables every day and taking a long list of different supplements. He has become vegan and is doing everything he can to keep his body healthy but it keeps coming back. The doctors have said that the cancer is incurable without the surgery and that the recommended radio and chemotherapy will only help to prolong his life.
Due to the severity of the surgery being offered, and the high chance of the cancer coming back again even if Per Christian did opt to have it, the family now wants to try alternative treatment alongside the palliative treatment offered by the hospital. It is not possible, however, for this to be funded by the health service and so has to be funded privately. The Bergs are a young working family with a mortgage and two young children to support. Their sons Oskar and Kasper are just 7 and 5 years old. They can't afford to pay for this treatment alone.
Claire and Per Christian are my very good friends and their children are friends with my children. The Bergs are a beautiful loving family and all they want is for Per Christian to have a chance to see his boys grow up. To have the future they deserve together and enjoy their life together.
As a friend I decided to set up this page for them to help raise the money they so desperately need ,so they can explore the other treatment options and give Per Christian the chance to live a happy and healthy life with his wife and children.
I know that myself and many of their friends and family are looking for a way to help them. We feel helpless watching this beautiful family going through this terrible trauma and not being able to help. So this page is a way for us to do that. To do something positive and help the Bergs by funding the alternative treatment for Per Christian.
The cancer is very aggressive and there is no time to lose. We need to start the alternative treatment quickly as the cancer is quickly spreading throughout his body.
Please help us give hope to the Bergs!
