Punki the Miracle Kitty!

The Cover photo is Punki to the left, his brother, Buster in the Middle and Mama Kitty to the Right!

UPDATE: As of 10/5/2018 ~ Punki is on the mend, he got his tests back and he is almost back to normal. It's hard to believe that this little guy was basically on the other side, and because of the doctors, thoughts and prayers from so many people, he survived. He still needs more treatment, but each day is a miracle he is still with us.   More updates soon!

UPDATE: As of 9/24/2018 ~ Punki went for his first follow-up at the Vet. He is still having issues, he's still not eating properly, and now drinking too much water and urinates to often.  He's vomiting up some of his Meds too. Some of the issues are treatable, it'll just take a little time.  The vomiting is concerning, so that will be monitored. Overall, much improvement from the past two weeks. He will continue to need check up sand tests to measure his progress. More updates to come as information becomes available.

UPDATE: As of 9/18/2018 ~ Punki was finally discharged from the Vet Hospital, he is home now with his mother, Mama Kitty and his brother, Buster Kitty. They are all happy Punki is home. He's still struggling with a few vitals, but the Vet prescribed a host of medications that should put him on the right path. The main thing was getting him back home in a familiar environment. That has helped with his spirits. However, he does not like the medication plan. Right now he gets 1 shot and 7 oral meds (twice a day), and... a shot and 9 oral meds every other day.  Needless to say, he's struggling with this. He has several follow-ups still with the Vet before he is 100% healthy. He remains the comeback Kitty as he was not expected to survive. He is on the right path, but the vet bills continue to mount. Any assistance to keep him with his family would be greatly appreciated!

UPDATE: As of 9/13/2018 ~ They are calling Punki the miracle Kitty.  He should not have survived, his vitals were such that it was hour-by-hour monitoring before they called his passing. The Hospital wouldn't even give a survival percentage because the likelihood was so unlikely.  After a few days, his vitals began to stabilize, but his kidneys went into failure. It took a monumental effort, but the doctors got his kidneys to work again.  We were then told that "IF" he ever wakes up, he may have significant brain damage; and were told again it was OK to put him down, we did not. Two legs or four, everyone deserves a chance to survive if the Universe is saying it's not your time.  As of yesterday, the Universe returned a soul to us. Punki awoke and it was the same Kitty, he is conscious, aware and recognizes his human parents. He still has a long road to recovery, there is no set date for when he can come home, but we felt you all should know your contributions and words of support helped us through a few very dark days.  The Hospital said it was as if "Someone" pulled him back from the afterlife and brought him back to us. There is no medical explanation as to how he survived, he is a Miracle Kitty and truly has 9 lives. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for helping save his life!  Ongoing treatment is still required, we still need help to make sure he continues on his path and has a chance at life.

Thank you so much,
Jimmy and Michelle Alvarez.

My name is Punki, I'm the son of Mama Kitty, and I came to my human parents when I was days old. Mama found two good humans that took us in. A few years ago I developed diabetes and they have taken care of me. Recently, while my human parents were away, I was in Boarding care;   and  I got very ill. My blood sugar shot up to 750 and my blood pressure crashed to 40; I almost didn't make it. My humans moved mountains to save me again. The Emergency Veterinary  Hospital I'm currently at has stabilized my blood pressure and blood sugar; but I have several other issues now including being in an oxygen chamber and kidney problems. I'm not out of the woods and my human parents are doing everything they can to save my life. I would appreciate it if you would help them do that. I really want to come home. I know I mean the world to my family as they mean everything to me. Please, please help......anything you can do to help me get back home to my family would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,
Punki
