Rudy’s Surgery Expenses

Donation protected
Last night our dog, Rudy ate his dinner too quickly. A few hours later he rushed outside and started making noises as though he had to throw up and nothing came out. He then started breathing rapidly and my mom rushed inside to call the vet. Eventually Rudy got up on his own and ran inside after my mom. When I went inside we noticed his stomach had almost doubled in size. My mom rushed him to the emergency vet and we found out Rudy had developed really bad bloat, which is also known as Gastric dilation and volvulus syndrome (GDV). A very painful condition that can happen with older dogs, especially German Shepherds. The only options Rudy had were to be euthanized or to go into surgery right away. Not only does my mom volunteer her free time at a German Shephard rescue but Rudy means the world to her and there is  no way she was going to allow him to be put down. The worst part of it all - the vet bills that follow. Unfortunately, my mom had to pay for Rudy’s surgery upfront. $9,500 later, my mom has now maxed out her credit card. Not only does she have a costly vet bill to pay for, she’s a single mother paying for my sisters college tuition and a mortgage on top of it. My mom has done so much for me and I want to help her. Even the smallest donation will help and mean so much to us. If you are unable to donate, your prayers for Rudy to have a fast and easy recovery mean everything!
