My name is Arlene Rivera and I am fundraising for my cousin, Madeline, who resides in Puerto Rico and is currently suffering from the advanced stages of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS or more commonly known as Lou Gehrig's Disease). Madeline resides in a rural area in the municipality of Ceiba.
At this time she resides in a house that is not handicapped accessible. Since Hurricane Maria, Madeline has not been able to get out of the house as she is wheelchair bound and cannot navigate stairs, which means she has not gotten to see her doctor in months. These funds will help build a ramp that will allow her to get out of the house to visit her doctor for the treatment she so desperately needs.
In addition, the only person tending to her care is her elderly mother, as her brother suffers from Cerebral Palsy. This money will also help to fund 24 hour care for her.
