Hope For Jenna

Jenna is 8 years old and was Diagnosed with Osteosarcoma in her right Humerus on June 17, 2017. She had 2 rounds of Chemo and surgery to remove the tumor on September 11, 2017 which then was followed by 4 more rounds of rounds of chemo with multiple Cts and MRI scans in between.  Her Chemo wrapped up the 1st week of March of 2018.  The Tumor dissection after the surgery only showed about 50%  Necrosis [ Dead cancer cells] and the Doctors hoped for 95 % or more meaning the chemo was not as effective as it should have been then.  It is notorious for returning. At the last stage of Chemo the tumor had spread to her lungs in 10 weeks time- this chemo she has been doing has stopped being effective.  On March 8, 2018 we returned to the clinic to learn has 10-12 nodules or lesions on each lung. Surgery is a possibility but it comes with great risk including the surgeons not being able to operate and her not making it through the surgery due to several locations of some of the lesions.  Since it has returned.. typically a patient with 1-2 spots on the lungs would have about a 20% chance.     Since she has way more than that her chances are less. Today we will start a trial chemo in hopes to shrink the tumors to reduce risks if we go through surgery.  The trial is 9 weeks but they will scan after 6 weeks to see the effectiveness [if any] and explore other options from there. Her arm has been hurting for 2 weeks again and what Doctors thought was fluid on her arm- rt Humerus again from scans on March 7, 2018 may be Osteosarcoma as well.  The situation causes a great deal of expense and hardship on the family.   We want to try and make the Families time together as comfortable as we can without the constant stress that comes with ongoing treatments and time away from work.
