Hope For Ivy Sky

Beautiful Ivy-Sky came into the world July 15th 2018 weighing 7lbs 15oz, 20.5 inches long and a bundle of pure joy. Her big sister and 3 big brothers were very excited to welcome her to their family. Her mom Lisa and her dad Patrick were over the moon to be blessed with such a healthy baby girl to complete their family.
After initial post natal screenings were completed the doctors were pleased to pronounce Ivy-Sky was Happy and Healthy.
On Ivy-Sky's 2nd day a red mark appeared on her neck. Growing concerned Lisa and Patrick had asked for a second opinion
after being told there was a possibility it was tubulour sclerosis, a rare genetic disorder causing benign tumors on the body and in and around other organs. A specialist was consulted and advised the family that they did not think it was tubulour sclerosis as it was an atypical presentation of how the disorder would normally appear and a higher probability that it was a birthmark.
Greatful for the news Lisa and Patrick were happy to be able to bring Ivy-Sky home with a follow up specialist appointment scheduled in a few months time.
The next few days were as expected with a new born and 4 young children to care for, and their home was brimming with joy.
Every parents nightmare became a reality only 7 days after Ivy-Sky was born. Her cry became weak, her arms limp and she began gasping for breath. Thankfully joined by the midwife who was able to advise the seriousness of the situation EMS was dispatched to their home immediately. After time with the emergency room Drs they sent Ivy-Sky to the neonatal intensive care unit for further testing, upon arrival to the NICU Ivy-Sky lost the capability to breath on her own. She was intubated immediately and under went further testing where fluid was seen on her brain, London Sick Kids Hospital was contacted and they advised Ivy-Sky be transferred to their care as soon as possible.
Ivy-Sky and Lisa were transported to London via MediVac services.
Upon arrival Dr's recognized her head circumference had grown 2.5". An MRI was ordered and from the imaging they discovered a large tumor by her cerebellum that was causing cerebralspinal fluid to build up. The Dr's have been able to drain the fluid by inserting a drainage tube and have requested further testing be done to ascertain the type of tumor she is battling.
Although Ivy-Sky's future is uncertain, it is certain her parents will need to be by her side and will need assistance with travel expenses, child care for their other 4 children and wage losses for the time needed away, as well as unexpected costs that may arise during the duration of Ivy's fight for life.
