Hope for Haiti Healing - Yale

Next week, June 22nd-25th, I will be volunteering for the second time in Haiti with the Hope for Haiti Healing organization and its founder, Mike Wnek. My first trip there was in Fall 2016, and I can tell you the devastation and poverty is overwhelming. I can also tell you that the people are very encouraged by any help we can bring and are eager to work and improve their circumstances. There is a lot of opportunity and hope, and anything you can do to create jobs or send aid with any good organization is greatly appreciated.
The Hope for Haiti Healing organization was founded by Mike Wnek in 2010 and has maintained a consistent presence in Haiti to relieve the pain, hunger, and thirst, as well as provide homes for those still displaced by the earthquake, including eathquake amputees. The teams are not only focused on providing shelter and aid, but supporting the local economies of each destination by purchasing as many supplies from Haitian stores as possible and employing local Haitians to assist with construction.
Despite the organization's youth, Mike has been involved in relief and disaster reconstruction in Haiti for over 30 years and is committed to doing everything he can to encourage and assist the Haitian people. Mike has entered into a partnership with the United Aid Foundation based out of New York City, NY, serving as a board member.
Haiti had a shortage of housing before the catastrophic earthquake of 2010. Afterward, the situation became even more dire leaving many without a home and limbs. The funds raised for the Hope for Haiti Healing organization will contribute to the building of homes, which cost approximately $7,000 each, including the purchase of supplies, hiring of local labor, and security for our volunteer teams.
This is a last-minute fundraiser to ensure we can build at least three homes for families during this trip. Unfortunately, most of the funds earmarked for this trip have been spent on a medical emergency. Our long-standing security guard was shot while on a security detail for the chief of police and due to the poor medical infrastructure in country, we are paying to have him moved to facilities elsewhere in the Caribbean to ensure he heals properly.
The United Aid Foundation is a registered 501(c)(3) charity with the IRS, and all donations are tax-deductible. It is run by benevolent U.S. businessmen that just want to give back, and there are no administrative salaries collected. All funds will go to the rebuilding and relief of the people of Haiti. This is an organization that I truly believe in, and I pray that you find it in your heart to contribute to this organization as well.
