Hope For Gwyn

Donation protected
During the first week of September, 2018, Gwyn started to notice she couldn't see things the way she was used to.  Over the next few days, her vision rapidly deteriorated to the point of total blindness.

Gwyn is an active and talented 5th grader who enjoys playing softball and volleyball.  She loves to have fun and be silly with her friends.  Gwyn is the precious daughter of Amanda and Rob Maham (who both have been coaching our youth in several sports over the years), and a dear friend to her teammates. Gwyn attends Batavia Elementary and is a great student and classmate.

Gwyn has been at Children's Hospital, Division of Neurology (Cincinnati, Ohio) since mid September where she will remain until the doctors can learn why this is happening.  While her team of doctors work to eliminate certain causes, they will continue to test for others.  Gwyn will undergo many treatments including plasmapheresis with hope that this will repair damage to her optic nerve, which doctors believe is causing the blindness, and she will then regain her vision.

Since Gwyn was admitted weeks ago, her parents have had to take time off work as they have been at the hospital helping to comfort and care for their only daughter.  The Mahams had just finalized the purchase of a home when Gwyn's condition presented itself.  Needless to say, as each day passes, the family continues to incur unforeseen expenses.

We as a community can help ease some of this financial burden.  Let's help the family focus on prayer and hope for Gwyn's full recovery.
