Hope For Ezekiel

Donation protected
My name is Isamar and when I was 36 weeks pregnant with my son Ezekiel a drunk driver hit my side of the vehicle. I had a placental abruption, broken pelvis and kidney laceration. I had to undergo an emergency c-section.  Ezekiel almost lost his life.  His Apgar scores were 0,0,3.  Apgar meaning a measure of the physical condition of a newborn. It is obtained by adding points for heart rate, respiratory effort, muscle tone, response to stimulation, and skin coloration: a score of 10 represents the best possible condition. Once stabilized he was rushed to All Children's Hospital where he stayed just 3 days short of 1 month.

To keep the story somewhat short, due to this incident his life was changed forever.  Ezekiel beat the odds and survived all he was put through at just seconds of entering the world. Even though he survived, his life is far from normal. He has challenges to face on a daily bases. He had a lack of oxygen to the brain causing permanent damage to multiple spots of his brain. Surgery is not an option because it won't work due to so many spots being damaged. Some of Ezekiel diagnoses are global developmental delay, Feeding difficulties (nothing by mouth only through the feeding tube), 24/7 oxygen, seizures, and so much more. Ezekiel recently had a test done of the brain and the Neurologist confirmed the type of seizures he has and how he has the hardest types to control. The test also revealed that he is not learning. His brain waves are constantly high, which means he can have a seizure at any second of the day. His brain is to busy trying not to have a seizure that he is unable to learn and progress.

My aunt shared a video that was speaking on Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy. It also shared a little girls story on how she had a lack of oxygen to the brain because of falling into a pool and was in Ezekiel's similar condition. It then showed the little girl talking, walking, reading after her 40th treatment! They showed her MRI and how her brain grew with each treatment. Her mother states shes relatively back to normal. I saw this and being a mother/caretaker that has tried everything within my reach (including medical marijuana) for my son, but nothing worked. I saw this as possibly the answer to my prayers if it works. Ezekiel is going to be 3 this November and he has yet to experience all the wonders of life and everything he can do.  I as his mother just wants him to play one day, eat, run, talk, see, go to school, make friends! This could be our chance to give him what he deserves, what was taken from him.

Now, why do we need the money?  The clinic where they do this treatment is located in Marrero, Louisiana (New Orleans area). About 75% to 90% of their patients are from out of town. Dr. Harch has treated pediatric patients from over forty different countries. It is not unusual that parents travel long distances to get HBOT for their child with him. We will need to be in New Orleans for approximately eight to ten weeks of treatment to complete forty HBOT treatments.
Ezekiel will be in the HBOT chamber for about one hour per day.

The  First step would be a telephone interview with Dr. Harch to discuss Ezekiel's condition and prognosis for improvement.  The fee for Dr. Harch’s time is $450 per half hour, and the clock starts ticking when he starts reviewing medical records. So there's no telling how long the call can take to properly address everything.

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy is $200 per treatment (about one hour, depending on diagnosis).
40 HBOT treatments = $8,000
Doctor fees for HBOT treatment course (40 treatments) are $750 total- the intake assessment is $500, and an exit evaluation is $250.

FPC does not file for insurance, payment is due at time of service. Insurance typically does not cover HBOT for neurological indications. The fee for HBOT is $200 per treatment for the neuro applications and is not covered by Medicare, Medicaid or private insurance.

This is not including if the calls with the doctor pass 30min or the wellness check before they start treatment. Ezekiel is not able to fly so we will need to rent a car and find an affordable place to stay for 2 months. It also does not include the cost of gas driving from Florida to New Orleans and vice-versa or our food expenses.

Please help Ezekiel and I make this dream a reality. No matter how small every bit brings us closer to our goal and is greatly appreciated.
Once we reach our goal if you'd like updates, pictures, and videos of Ezekiel's entire process feel free to contact me here or through social media.
